Preparations Underway for 2010

Wow…it’s January already and racing at Daytona is just a month away. That means it’s just a few short months until the season opener at Delaware Speedway and the David Elliott Team can’t wait for the first green flag of the year.

For 2010, the #37 Chevrolet will once again be sporting the yellow, black and red Pennzoil colours. This is a relationship which continues to grow and we are proud to be representing this great organization for a third straight year.

“Pennzoil has been a wonderful sponsor to work with,” said David Elliott. “They have given us some great opportunities both on the track through displays throughout southern Ontario .”

When the #37 Pennzoil Chevorlet rolls off the trailer for the first time this year, it may look the same to the fans in the stands, but underneath the fibreglass body will be a new chassis.

“Our old car was built to run at Flamboro and was it very old,” explained David. “It just didn’t allow us to make the adjustments we needed to be competitive at Delaware .”

After a second place finish in the Great Canadian 300 in 2008, David and his team felt they would be at top-5 car in 2009. That level of success materialize and they realized that they needed better equipment if they wanted to be contenders for the win, week in and week out in 2010.

“While we were satisfied with a top-10 in the 2009 year-end point standings, we knew we could do better,” continued David. “Our goal for 2010 is at least one feature win and a top 5 in the point standings.”

The team will be spending the next few months building the new car and looking for additional associate sponsors for the upcoming season.
